Hey Guys...

Many of you have seen pictures of me in my Scouting Uniform..

A Few have asked about my Woggle (A woggle is the thing that holds the Necker together in front)

Fewer maybe have seen one, or remember them from many years ago...

Here's a picture of "What's His Name?" and myself wearing my Scout uniform and Custom made Rik Palm Fire Genie woggle that I bought back in 2000..

The Rik Palm "Fire Genie" was designed as a necklace and is a functional work of art..

The Genie itself is a hand forged and hand worked arrowhead,, which functions as a knife, Scraper,,and even could Easily be used as an actual arrowhead or Spear tip..

The edges are somewhat sharp (and can be sharpened ever further easily enough) , and at this point are more functional as a scraper..

There is a small leather pouch behind the Genie that now stores a Ferro rod and small piece of fatwood.. There is enough room for more if you wish...

It has been my constant companion when in uniform for almost 10 years now.. I've had Many comments on it, and have used it several times to make fire, just for fun...

Thought I'd show you this little piece of art that I Cherish...

Rik's gear always has great style and real function.
I think he's half knifemaker and half shaman.

As much as we like to harass(is that one word or two?) Rick, his work is unparalleled.

That is very nifty! I wonder if you could produce a small kydex slip for one such that the kydex just fit around the outside edge about 3/16" wide. That would keep the character of the design but allow you to really sharpen those edges and still wear it as jeweler. Just thinking out loud, but I could see myself wearing something like that!

Very neat Eric!

I think you may have the names mixed up, buddy....

This piece is done by a great maker named Rik Palm...

Not me... Rick Marchand (aka.. the W&SS punching bag) Don't worry, keep it up, guys... I got a list of names and addresses. Why do you think you "won" that giveaway? Now I know where you live, man. Everyone who ridicules me ends up getting a package at some point. Sleep well my friends.

back on topic....

That Fire Genie is really cool, Eric. Maybe I'll contact Rik and see if I can get his blessing to make a few for your Scouts.

Rick

Ah, I see. My reading skills are really getting poor.
That is a very cool piece that Rik made and I'll stand by what I said, your work is unparalleled.

That is REALLY nice, definitely looks cool being worn and many uses as well.

That's pretty cool, I've seen the Palm Genie before, I like the combined tribal, jewelry, practical aspects of it. Could you take more pics of the woggle, to better show all its features? When I bought a few silk bandannas from Jingle Bob's, I made a couple of basic slides for them, one carved from a piece of pecan wood, one from a short section of PVC pipe, and one made of rawhide lace braided into a Turk's Head knot (an idea I got from the old Handbook for Scouts, as a source of lace for whatever emergency). I'd like to see the pouch on yours better.

Very flash. When I was a Scout the trendy thing to have as a Woggle was a Sheeps vertebrate.

you lucky dog Eric... i have always loved those "fire genie's"... it's a bummer Rik isn't taking orders anymore... he hasn't been for years...

Hey Mike...

Yaa I know.. I love that thing... It's very special to me.. I thought I lost it once,,and literally tore the house and laundry room apart trying to find it..

Was under a CD case in my desk.. LOL

Yaa it's a shame.. He's Incredibly talented...

Don't give up hope though...

I've been in communications with him, he's aware of this thread and I'm doing some mental message therapy on him, lets see what comes of it....

About 6-7 years ago I noticed he was on the list at Blade,, so I tracked down his booth.. We've been virtual friends for ten years or so..

I Actually sheathed his first knife.. LOL I'm honored by that..

However we had never met.. so I'm standing at his booth,, Looking at Incredible works of Art...

A customer is handling and drooling over one of his knives,, inspecting it over, and I say to the guy, loud enough that only the customer, myself, Rik and his wife could hear me. " Holy Smokes,, Look at that Huge Scratch!!! "

Rik's Eyes got as big a dinner plates, and Clearly he was VERY Disturbed by what I just said..

I said " Naaa man,, I'm just Screwing With you.. Remember me,, I'm Normark from Hoodlums"

Immediately his blood pressure went back to normal and we had a bit of a chuckle.. It was a pleasure meeting him. He's a Super level headed down to earth and practical guy....
