Hi all, I have a black plain edge Spyderco Paramilitary and I love it! Unfortunately for my wallet, I am a knife nut and I want to get a "partner" for my Spyderco Paramilitary. I use my knife for easy EDC, just cutting apples and opening letters, no Rambo stuff. I'm also right handed, so no left hand woes for me.

what I am looking for

*3-3.4 inch utilitarian blade: Not too picking about steel, but should be better than 440C. No tanto please.

*full grip handle:Prefer it if the handle material is made up of G10 that is as grippy as Spyderco's.

*Safe lock: Any lock is fine, except the liner lock.

*price, below $130.

Basically, I want a knife that is like the paramilitary but not the paramilitary. Any suggestions will be helpful :)

Greetings! I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I got me a benchmade Griptilian I just love. Its 154CM steel, 3.25 inch satin finish combo edge blade. It does have a full size zytel handle, but I haven't had any problems so far with it. And the axis lock is a thing of beauty. Easy 1 hand open and closer. I got mine for $64, so its under your budget. Hope that helps!

I don't think the grip is in the same class as the para. While a good knife on it's own, I think it's around delica/ endura type plastic handle deals.

You can probably pick up a mini/ full size manix here for about 80-100. Super strong lock, same steel, same g-10, different shape blade. The extra heft of the manix has it's advantage and disadvantage and should compliment your para if you decide to get another spydie.

PS - Those are gonna develop blade play pretty quick, but I don't know it affects performence.

Maybe look at Benchmade's HK line? The thicker blades with a modified shape might come in handy depending on the cutting chore.

do yourself a favor and try BM 940. don't let aluminum handles keep you from the joy of this blade!
