I have been using my 15 daily for the last few months and it has been performing then I expected it would, playing the role of a boning knife for a commercial Butcher. Our crew does an avg of 80k lbs of pork a week and I have Zero complaints! Aside from one small one, I can't get enough of a patina to show. For as much time as it spends wet and in raw meat, I was expecting more, but back to my point.

When I use my 15 outside of work, I have wanted something to fit Perfectly in the front pouch, if I don't have my larger pouch strapped onto it. I Finally located something and it wasn't what I was expecting.

Some marks from the steel, but showing how little of a natural patina has formed over 2+ months of near daily use...
I have also thinned the shoulder/behind the edge a little.

Has anyone on here found anything that fits the larger sheath near as perfectly?

Um, I dont know if you meant some container to fit in the pouch perfectly, or just something that fits perfectly. I've found that a Leatherman Wave fits perfectly and have seen others do the same.

I have a sog powerlock that fits pretty snug in the 15 as well.

But I was referring to a container of sorts. I will be throwing together a few kits in these for different situations, camping, fishing, hiking, out in the garden...

I'll see what I can come up with.

I have an altoids tin the same design as the mentos. It fits great, but still full of mints ATM lol. I'll post some pics later, it's at home.

Excel mint tin fits perfectly in the front pouch. Have a fire kit in mine (old crappy cell phone pics, sorry):

Yeah that's just like the altoids one that I can't find. Nice!
Is that fire steel sleeve seen on? Is it elastic?

Didnt mean to neglect ya Bill! Glad your getting some good work outta her. Thanks for keeping us updated, that's a lot of meat! Very cool that you can take your becker to work and use it like that.

Hey Aiki I love your little kit. The tin I've got is pretty much exactly the same but my kit defs needs a revision..what's in the little pieces of straw with the folded/melted ends?

Yeah Bill that's kinda odd how it hasn't developed any patina. To be honest I would've thought that blood would work quite well. I guess you could try forcing one with some vinegar or mustard or fruit puree our something..

I like that setup Aikiguy. I'll have to look for an excel tin next time I'm at the store. How did you fasten the firesteel loop? Is it elastic?

NJBillK I'm with BeeKayNutCase on the patina thing. The blood should have given a real nice look on your blade by now, but I read that it affects different steels at different speeds.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I sewed a piece of an elastic fabric strap I had to hold the firesteel. In the tin is a mini bic, small baggie of fat wood shavings, some jute twine, and a half dozen fire straws (PJ cotton balls inside a straw with the ends melted). The little sharpener gets tucked behind the molle strap in the back. Works for me :)

In the holy words of NCSlice, fanfreekintastic! If you can't start a fire with that then you're probably made of Asbestos..
