This one probably sat in the bottom of some old mans tackle box for 57 years. This is a filet knife made by Al Buck in or around 1955. It has a Lignum Vitea handle, leather and aluminum spacers. Al Buck signed this with an electric pencil. I have talked with other collectors and they have similar knives but theirs have the 1272 Morena Blvd. address stamped on the handle. As you can see, unfortunately my does not. But, I am luck to own this one. Please enjoy.

Looks like an excellent filet knife with lots of history. You sure do find some of the good oldies!! :)

Thanks Stumps, I spend many hours surfing the sights to find them, then the hard part begins, Buying them...

I,m no old Buck knife expert. But, I have never seen any old buck signed with an electric pen!

Man, that chefs knife blows me away!
That thing looks like it would perform incredibly well!
And going back to the fillet knife...I love the cutouts for grip in that handle...I bet that knife was an absolute joy to use!

Thanks for all the nice comments, sitflyer, It feels great in hand and amazingly it's still very sharp. Its so incredible that the brand knife we love has such history. There are allot of people that don't even know that there was knives like this made. This forum allows us to feature the knives that brought Buck into existence. All the limited editions and special orders/runs are great but knives like this are the grass roots of the company. If these weren't so popular and so well made the company would have crumbled like so many other American cutlery companies...
