An old 1950 Vincent Black Shadow, on the hill by a corn crib.

Email me for a larger pic for wallpaper, this makes an awsome backdrop on a laptop.

Awesome pic, it almost reminds me of this one showing the Vincent breaking the 150mph land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1948. I forgot the guys name, but he is a very brave mad man indeed. One little bump and he is hamburger.

Thanks for sharing, its amazing, now there are several stock bikes that hit 150mph plus

"Now Nortons and Indians and Greeveses won't do
They don't have a soul like a Vincent 52"

From Richard Thompson's great song.

My oldman used to call 'em the spineless wonder, they had no frames, everything was bolted to the engine.

Saw one at a hillclimb once, never saw someone overshoot the top like that before.:D

The story there is that he tried several times to break the 150MPH mark and just couldn't quite get there. Each time, he took something off the bike to reduce weight. And each time he got a little closer. Finally, the only thing left was his own cloths... so off they came and that was the extra few pounds he needed.

If it was the clothes as you say, I'd bet it was the drag and not the weight that mattered.

He must have been a very brave fellow. I had a small Honda and 55 mph seemed very fast. (that was full throddle) Have been about 136 in a car and was about to shit my pants. Could only imagine what a bug could do to a persons eye at that speed on a bike.

Perhaps take up residence in the cerebral cortex:eek:

I cant see if he is wearing goggles or not, but I hope so. Awhile back I worked with a mechanic who got a brand new Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa. I rode on the back with no helmet, goggles etc...(like an idiot) I told him not to ride crazy (since he was) and he quickly accelerated up to 130 mph. I couldn't open my eyes to see where we were going and the wind noise was unbelieveable. Afterwards I was shaking for about 10 minutes due to the adrenaline. He ended up totalling it within 3 weeks:rolleyes:

We have 2 Vincents in the Partner's gargage at my work. I'll see if I can snap some pics.
