Cobraskin leatherwork, dyed camel bone handle with wood inlays, brass guard and butt. What do you guys think?

I have a feeling the photos don't do it justice, however I still like it quite a bit.
Both camel and giraffe bone dyed well can look a bit like mammoth ivory.:thumbup:

Hello!

I am 100% with Kevin - the knife deserves images without that Instagram look (I for one have come to really hate that look). It looks really well made and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it for a long time!

Best regards,
Alex

I would love to know more about how to go about doing this. I can't for the life of me figure out how this was done here. If I tried I would most likely end up with a brownish/blueish mess. :o
It looks great by the way.

really digging how all the elements in that handle came together so well - I think that wood trim is very thin so it had to be soaked & bent to shape around the handle, impressive!

Yeah i think that the pictures came out that way as a result of the temperature of the light in my room, dont have any better camera thany phone.

Thanks for the replies yall, and google him to check out more of his work.

Patrice, I'm not sure how it's done "correctly" or if it's just 'hit or miss'. I have seen some camel and giraffe bone dyed that looked absolutely horrible and other's where you would be hard-pressed (at least from a photo) to tell it wasn't ivory. Not to distract from the above nice piece but here's a Rodrigo Sfreddo piece with dyed giraffe bone which I have always liked.

Both camel and giraffe bone kind of became looked upon as an inferior handle material some years ago when an abundance of it was dumped into the market at very low prices dyed all sorts of bright and psychedelic colors. It's actually a pretty stable and durable material IMO, and as demonstrated by this thread, can make a beautiful handle.

Thanks for the pic and further explanations Kevin. Got a few ideas so it's definitely something I will experiment with.
