So, when I was in the Army, I had been stationed in Germany, starting in ‘85 to ‘92. Many will recognize this period was when The Berlin Wall was to come down.
When this occurred, I happened to be in Berlin and walked through when they opened Checkpoint Charlie. I have to say, going into the infamous East Germany was a sight to behold.
Anyhoo, I wanted to have a little sort of souvenir as a keepsake other than chunks of concrete and pictures, so I had stepped into a small shop to look around.
I found this delightful if not simple little lockback pocketknife, and bought that. I had a bit of East German money with me (damn, I wish I still had some of that) mixed in with my West German marks.
I carried this little guy for a while before placing into the safe as a keepsake.
I’ve included some pics in the event anyone is curious.

A cool little knife! That must have been quite an experience!
