This evening I have a one-of-a-kind find for a lucky collector. How would
you like to add an original 100-year-old Khukuri knife to your collection? Yes, that's
right...100 years old and the sharpest steel knife ever made in Nepal that
can cut anything.

This knife was found by a Newari man in the ground under an old house that
was torn down for new construction. This Knife was used by Nepal army during Shre Tin Chandra Samsher ministry. While you might believe that a steel knife
would be way more modern than 2500 years old, the truth is that a raw iron
mine existed then, Kacho Falam, and the Kamis of that time were very creative and resourceful.

The knife has writing on the back of the handle spine that identifies it as an
army service badge number to honor Shre Tin Chandra Samsher. The leather sheath has disintegrated and
the handle and Karda Chakma fell apart. History mentions that the leather sheaths for these knives
were made by Sarki Kamis and other Kamis made the handles..

The sheath Karda, chakma and the handle for this historical knife were replaced by the HI shop
Kamis. The one who acts fast enough to buy this beautiful knife will have an
authentic relic from who knows how many ancient battles.

There's only one, so it is definitely First Come, First Served!

Overall length --19 1/4''
Weight -- 36 oz
Spine thickness 3/8''
White metal fittings
Horn handle
Leather scabbard
For your collection at $275. *SOLD*

A 2500 year old genuine kukri, with all this historic pedigree, certified as authentic, for U$S 275? Wouldn't this be some sort of national relic of Nepal, more at home in a museum? (even if it was 250 y.o.)

AC, my post is a takeoff on all the "Confederate Bowies" listed on E-bay, as seen in BL's forum.

There's no Confederate Nepali army to my knowledge.

there was a shri tin chandra samsher, ruled 1901-1921. was there an earlier one?

2500 years old thats got to be worth a fortune:eek: or has aunti got a sevear
case of dyslexic fingers:)

(no slight intended guys

What a lovely khuk deal for someone.
I love that tiny bolster, and the Cho, right where it belongs!
Lovely!!:)

Sorry for the wrong date:o

Antique; yes. What a beauty! With that belly, it looks like the one the ghurka holds in the famous old artwork.

Phenomenal!

Beoram will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first two characters
2vvtb82.jpg

probably represent the Bhairung Battalion of the Nepalese Army.
Formed in 1854, the Bhairung Battalion was part of the 14,000 Nepalese Army troops deployed to India in WWI by Prime Minister Maharaja Sri Tin Chandra Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana.

The markings were probably applied at that time, although the kukri is older than that and could be much older.

Berk - The characters look like "Bhai" and "Ru". You probably know better than I about the correspondence between these "initials" and the battalions, but it seems a fair surmise to my mind.

Hi all

I really like the shape of this blade what model is closest to this in the HI line up

I have some none traditional Kukri's and really want a traditional one and it looks like HI is the way to go

Any help would be apreciated

HI makes a 'samsher' model based on this one. do a search on 'samsher' in the HI forum for more photos. you can always email auntie yangdu for availability & pricing, etc.

the foxy folly, ganga ram, and m43 models also have the rounded spine style blades in differing profiles, and there are other special runs. the foxy folly (see the deals of the day (DOD) of 7/5) has some nice fullers with a similar shaped blade & the unsold (at the moment) one in the deal comes with a non-traditional but more comfortable carry quick-draw sheath rather than the traditional scabbard.

join the sharks circling the DOD pool, you might see something you like & if lucky might grab it faster than the other sharks...
