I have called paragon already. I am looking for the spyderco dallara drop.

anyone know of a place?

Thanks

Not sure, but you might try John Jovino’s.

Anything you find in NYC (B&M store) is going to be pretty spendy. Paragon has a commendable collection of knives- but pretty much at full MSRP.

I will try army surplus stores.

yeah I only go to paragon to get a feel for the knives.

I'll call the gun shop

I've never been to an army navy store that sold knives other than a few SAKs but then again I havent been to all that many. Any way Paragon is the only big store in NYC that I have been to that sells good knives but, I didnt buy any cause they were a bit over priced.

I have heard that this place sells spyderco.

I won't set foot in NYC anymore with any knife that can be interpreted by the NYPD as a "gravity knife" and you can even "flick open" a Buck 110 if you give it a hard enough shove.

This is really unfortunate as I am "in the business" and did a nice business with two NYC knife retailers, both of whom have been arrested for offering such "dangerous weapons" such as these. One of these businesses has gone under, and the other is limping along in Queens by selling mainly fixed blades, lighters, and flashlights and such.

A few questions to the NYC residents reading this: Is this a Mike Bloomberg thing? How come this has been so under-publicized (there have been plenty of arrests and if you can find a Spyderco in NYC that dealer is taking a big risk)? Can any folders be considered legal? Or are they really are legal and some corrupt NYPD officers are merely "over-confiscating" these?

Too bad, indeed. New York is still the greatest city in the world, and I miss visiting it for work purposes (and having my employer pay my way!).

I can't speak to the specifics of your questions but I think it's more of a post 9/11 thing than a Bloomberg thing per se. There's a lot of positive things to be said of Rudy and now Mayor Mike, but neither of them are any different than their Democrat predecessors when it come to knife-as-tool, much less knife-as-self-defense, type of thinking.

There's another factor, too: real estate prices have been insane in the city for quite a while now, and I am guessing that if a trad army-navy store loses its lease, it can't live with the increases that the location can probably demand now, so they go out of business. This has been going on for a while, and frankly many of the army navy type stores were only selling knock offs any way.

I was just in the westchester mall in Whiteplains. There was a Victorinox store that had ALOT of Spyderco and Benchmades. It was awsome!

have a great christmas!

I used to run into stores on Lexington around 50th to 60th streets with window displays of knives. I have no idea what's available these days.

Mayor Mike or his minions probably have something to do with the crackdown. He can get pretty finicky about his little do-gooder projects, like with the smoking bans.

Some day, politicians will get paid for doing what really needs being done, and let the rest slide, go home early, fix a drink, relax, and LEAVE ME _%$ #)(^ ALONE !!!

Judging by the direction we're going right now (e.g., lining bird cages with the fourth amendment), I'm not gonna hold my breath...

EMS has a few benchmades and kershaws.

Frank,
John Jovino was a cool place never been to it. But they didnot have any decent knives just the cheapos.

Thanks all
