A Pocket Knife Walks Off

The title says it all. A friend of mine is a distributor (or was) for firearms and accesories. In 20 years of business he only had a couple handguns stolen. But he couldn't keep ahold of his knives.

"It's almost as if a normal, trustworthy person becomes someonelse, " he told me, "people who would never cheat or steal will grab a knife if they see it." He'd lost thousands of dollars of inventory over the years through employee's stealing knives. He'd finally locked them in the gun room with a signout sheet and only two keys on premise.

Today I searched my house but couldn't find my favorite pocket knife- a gift from a friend. Hopefully, it will turn up. Through the years I've lost quite a few fine pocketknives, including a gift from Dad when I was still living at his home.

How about it? Anyone loose a fine blade?

It's like a slap in the face, isn't it? A loss that often touches the heart.

Come to think of it,, the conductor I worked home with last trip lost a pearlite handled Buck knife. Pretty nice knife in someone else's pocket. Bummer:mad:

I hope you find your knife. I thought my Spyderco Harpy was stolen from work, then months later it turned up under my car seat when I had them reupholstered.
Little knives have a habit of falling into tight spots. So keep looking before you buy a replacement... I sold my replacement on ebay at a loss!
That's another good thing about khukuris... hard to lose! Except maybe the kagas katne :)

If I like it, it goes missing. If I don't care, it lasts for years.

Bought a 4" Cold Steel tanto bladed Voyager, just in case my red Endura went missing.

The Endura had a FRN clip that broke walking by a chainlink fence when clipped to my pocket. Besides, I didn't care for the serrated edge. After a year or two in the junk drawer I pulled it out and filed and sharpened the serrations off. Lasted years. Within ten days of buying the Voyager, the Endura was gone. To make matters worse, I's leaned to put a razor edge on my knives with 1500 grit sand paper.

So anyway, go to the post office with the voyager, bump into a friend who carries a chinese POS, showed voyager off and told him " I got a straight razor at home that's almost that sharp! " Anyway, told him I'd heard all his pathetic whining on what a POS he had, and didn't want to hear anymore of it, so stick it( voyager ) in his pocket and take off.

So now I feel good but I'm out two knives and don't dare carry one of my good knives cause I know what will happen then.

The old red Endura disappeared just because it finally earned my respect and I started feeling fond of it.

I think Lone Wolf knives ran a batch off not too long ago, some may still be available.

Gerber folder. Lost the pocket clip to my Endura, but thre knife just fell into my pocket. Good design.

Mine was a German Eye brand. What's worse, I may have had it in the hotel office unwrapping a friend's khukuri for him. If I left it there, my neighbor, the one who has made all the fuss, may well have pocketed it. He hangs out there a lot and doesn't miss a trick.

There's nothing worse than a dirty, rotten, lousy, filthy thief -- but thankfully karma takes care of everything.

I misplaced one for 16 years. My first pocketknife, a generic barlowe that I got when I was five, and lost (I thought) when my family moved from NM to VA later that year, turned up in an old box of baseball equipment a few years ago. I carry it every day! It's not the best knife I have (possibly the worst) but it's ones of my favorites! :)
Of course, there was that other incident, but it also came out all right. What a world it would be if every knife thief had to face their stern, angry mother...

It's a common thing for things to go missing around here. Lost my Medicine Bag one time for Months!!!! Looked and looked in the bag I carried it in last and it was Not there.
One day opened the bag and it was there right on top!!!!
My Spanish Navaja has been missing for over a year now and it still hasn't turned up, but I'm comfortable it will. Good thing I've gotten used to it and that I'm a "fairly" patient man.;)

Never had a knife stolen, but I still hope whomever stole my 65 pound Ash bow I made as a kid:( shot his self in the foot or worse, better(?) with it.:D
That was a dayumed good bow and I would still be proud to own it!!!!
