If I want that nice semi mirror finish on blades and metals and such, and the metals aren't old or corroded, I just want to keep them shiny and protected and start doing so when they are still shiny, Should I use Mother's mag and aluminum polish? Or should I use Mothers billet metal polish? So just keep in mind I don't really want to restore my knives because they look good currently, I want to make them go from good to ( way good ) and keep them good, thanks.

Jeez it's been a long day. I read this topic as "A Polish question", as in Poland, the country...yikes.

I would hand sand all the way uo to 2k, but that's just me.

For my knives that are getting a little discoloration I use light compounding polish used for car finishes. It works well and it cheap! For a small area I use a cotton swab and for larger areas a microfiber cloth to apply it.

I probably should have put the polish name in the title and, I appreciate all the information so far guys, but I'd still like to find someone who knows in regards to the actual two polishes the regular mag and the billet one. I plan to do a little sanding too but I've done a decent amount of research and mag is where I'm going to be at currently. Thanks.

I was going to use simichrome but it just seems much harsher, and probably more coarse then mag, especially the billet. I want a smooth polish I don't need any real grit and I also see that it says things like ( may cause pulmonary aggravation ), or if spilled you can't just wipe it off you got to do some extra shit because it's apparently toxic. just seems like strong stuff and i really only need a polish to shine not buff, they should all do the same thing. Some are just quicker at getting you there but in the end I think it's more of a fanboy type deal, I hear everyone saying their polish always gets the best mirror finish but I've heard that for simi, flitz, mag, etc. atm Mag cost wise as-well as preference points me to it. I just want to know if I should get billet or if I should get the regular.

No, Simichrome is considerably finer than the other polishes. And it works better, too.

Simichrome will leave a very high shine on a polished steel blade (or brass, or nickel, aluminum, etc.). That's exactly what it was made for, and it works well.
