The title says it, pretty much. I talk with Mike fairly often and have been trying to get him to add some new things as well as some different options to his knives. As many of you know, Mike is well known for his smaller knives and incredible fit and finish for the price as well as the exclusive use of mirror finished 440-C on his blades. Since I don't speak for the masses, what would you guys and gals like to see most from Mike? Let's tell him in this poll and I'll pass it on to him. Mike has recently added 416 SS frames as opposed to his earlier offering in Nickel Silver and Mike now includes Milled/relieved liners on his knives as well--a step in the right direction I think. If you aren't familiar with his work here a couple of examples:

Also if I left something out, please chime in!

I hear good things about his work as we've discussed, Durwood.

My main thing is I'm not interested in knives under 3.5" and I tend not to go for the daintier patterns. (Not that there's anything wrong with it.)

The steel is less important than the patterns offered though I think offering additional steels would be a plus.

Thanks, Blues:thumbup: This is the kind of feedback I'm hoping to pass on to Mike.

Don't be bashful, guys and gals, Chime in:D

All of the above, I would enjoy seeing some 3 and 4 bladed knives from him.

As you know, Durwood, I love Mike's work too but do think other patterns, choice of steels and larger options would be a very nice addition to his work. Say what you will about steel but the choice, which does not exist with Mike is always a good option. We both know that Ray Cover's knives in other steels are at a premium. I am not trying to debate steels, which I could but it is another valid option.

I thought I'd bump this one, hopefully to get some more responses.

If you don't currently own an Alsdorf knife, you can still chime in on you preferences concerning blade steels, patterns, sizes, and finishes....come on don't be shy:D

I've had a couple of Mike's knives, both small jacks. The fit and finish and function on both of mine were just fantastic.

I don't think I have any new constructive comments to add to what has been said, but I'm glad he's moving to stainless bolsters, and considering some other classic patterns. I'd love to see him do a 4" sleeveboard clip point in cpm154 or D2. I don't know if he is considering pivot bushings or not, but they seem like a good idea to me. Just my .02. :)

I met Mike at the St. Louis show and was very impressed by his work. The 'upgrades' Darwin mentioned are all good. Plus, he told me he likes to mix-up his present patterns by making slight changes here and there to keep some variety in his folders. And, he has come a long way in a short period of time. I think all of the changes mentioned in the poll are doable for Mike and I look forward to keeping tabs on his work!
Some A2 and D2 down the road wouldn't bother me any, either. ;)

Friends,

I too have a couple of Mikes knives, and they are great. I would like to see a bit larger 2-3-or 4 blade! He makes very good carries.

I've been carrying mine this week since putting an edge on it Sunday. I'd love to see his 'traditional' stretched out to 3.5 inches, and still kept flat for discreet carry in slacks. But there's nothing wrong with mine. I really like carrying it. One a bit longer would find me buying another.

Jim, gotta love the blade and jigging on that one doncha now.:)

He's recently added swedges, which I think adds panache'. I'm anxious to get my Doctor's knife due in a month or so. I think it's one of the most elegant patterns offered.

I took one of Mike's knives to my coffee today and thought you might like to know the talk. All but one actually preferred the mirror finish, maybe because most of them carry a Case, most would like a Trapper size better. The steel was less of an issue than I thought but most commented the 440C was an "old" steel. All thought his work was flawless.
