Nice weather here today, guys

I’m hiking whit two knives, my SWC Woodlore and my Victorinox, and I decide to made a pot hanger to have my 5:00 o’clock tea. You all know the Victorinox, about he Woodlore is a very nice knife

What I need for the pot hanger are 3 woods, like these

Ok I have found my woods, so I may continue my hiking; next to the track I find these feathers, a hawk had a good meal here

After 30 minutes I arrive to this place, it’s a very old watering-place and it’s a good place to start my fire

I will not use the water on the basin, I could, but it’s really dirty

I’d use the water falling down tears by tears from the rocks

I clean from old leaves and woods the area where I want to light the fire. Safety first  Than I put on the ground the Y shaped woods

Now, I cut the extremity of the longer woods, I want a shape like this “>”, but whit the lower face shorter than the upper face

This is the structure until now

A final job on the diagonal wood; I need to notch a small cavity on the upper face

Finally, working what will be the vertical woods. First of all, the hook that will take the pot

Then, two hooks on the same wood, but on the contrary sense; these will be to hang the vertical wood on the diagonal wood…

…like this

The pot hanger it’s finally ready

It took me 10 minutes to made it

Lighting the fire

After 10 minutes, the water is boiling

My tea, is Karkade really, I like it more

Ahhh, warm and good to taste

It’s time to go. After more 30 minutes of hiking, I find another meal of the hawk

That’s all guys,
ciao
Alfredo

Thanks for the wonderful photos... excellent work on the pot hanger.

Where did you get the stag handles on your Mears knife? I bought the early release one with the reclaimed wood from the old church, and have quite a bit of shrinkage on the scales.

Great pictures! Looks like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing - I love your Mears knife. Did you put the stag on it?

Thanks guys! Appreciate your kind words.

About my Mears knife, the stag scales were made by an UK knife maker, they look and perform great!

Ciao Alfredo!

Excellent pictorial on making this style of pot hanger, thank you.

I too like karkade (aka. Hibiscus). Sometimes I add an instant ginger tea in there too....for a bit more fire in the belly!

Thanks again and warm regards

Thom

Editted to say: I thought I ought to have a cup in your honor :)

Beautiful knife and handy bushcraft work there. I really like those knives, but last I checked, they were incredibly expensive (like, over $700) with a 7+ year waiting list. Is that still the case?

I bought my Woodlore aftermarket, but the cost isn't cheap at all!!
Ciao!
