A pox on all thieves!

One of my favorite khukuris, the very first BGRS, has been stolen. I didn't use this knife much as I kept it underneath my car seat, but I had grown quite fond of it over the years. I liked knowing that it was right there -- strong, sharp and ready for use should I ever need it. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change about a month or so back. Since I didn't use this knife for general utilitarian tasks I didn't miss it right away. It wasn't until I cleaned the interior that I noticed it missing. I looked everywhere in the vain hope that I had just misplaced it. I didn't have any luck. I hope that its new owner appreciates the fine tool he has and that he has the misfortune to shin himself.

Wouldn't like to get your hands on them right when they're in the middle of stealing?
With any luck, whoever took your knife, will have fate intervene at some point.

I HATE that. The same thing has happened to me, albeit on a smaller scale. There are people out there who will steal the paint off a fire hydrant. You have my condolences Christian.

I hate to say it but I'm sure it's already been sold, dinged or destroyed. I only hope that if it was sold it was to someone who values it as you did.

But I'm also sure karma has or will kick in. These knives are blessed by the kamis before sending them on, so hopefully cosmic justice will engage here?

What would be the appropriate karmic settlement for stealing the first BGRS? Hopefully the thief will survive, but maybe an "accidental" slice, say just 20-30 stitches or so will set things aright?

Regards,

Norm

There are lots of times I'd like to catch a thief red handed, but I might take a pass if he has MY khukuri in his hand at the time.

Assuming I didn't have a firearm.

Sorry about the theft, may karma have it's way with them.

that's a bummer, man:( As the others have said, Karma will get him in the end. Khuks seem to be....loyal. To me, stealing one makes about as much sense as trying to lift a fully grown rottweiler out of someone's backyard. The only difference between a dog and a khuk is that the khuk will probably wait for the more opportune time to bite ya;)

I'd call the dealer manager, but i doubt that will do much.

It was at the dealership "a month or so back."

It is possible it was swiped by a technician, but perhaps it is possible you left your car unlocked while you were shopping and someone else help themselves to it.

After a month has passed calling the dealership won't do much good. Besides, most dealerships are crooked and overcharge for incompetent service and mistreat their workers leading to a high turnover rate.

*Hell Yeah! "An accidental" slice straight across his wee pointy pencil sans lead!!!  :D ;) Damn thieves, liars, and other ne'er do wells deserve all the bad punishment they can get!

Well, if your BGRS has a temperament anything like Ereshkigal (my 20" CAK), the thief is in trouble. Since I got mine, she's bitten everyone that touched her -- with or without permission -- but me. It's hard for me to believe that anything of wood and steel has a will of its own, but it often seems the case with kukri.

I would still speak to the manager at the dealership - who knows, there may have been other reported thefts and this incident might help piece the case together.

Rule #1 - never go to the dealership - they'll rip you off one way or another.

I'm sorry that you lost your khuk, but hopefully you'll find an even better one to take its place.

well that's a bummer - i hope something good happens for you - as for as the thief - everyone has already said it

I've seen so many stupid thieves out there. My bicycle, for example, has had so much useless crap stolen off of it, over the years: a mirror stolen off the bar-end, a light stolen off the handlebars, a bag full of good-luck trinkets stolen from under the seat, and even the seat itself!

"Steal the paint off a fire hydrant" is exactly right; they don't take what's valuable, just what they can get their hands on!

My wife & I drove up to Reno from the Bay Area & the dog puked in the car going over the mountain. We scooped the puke into a bag & left it on the back seat when we checked into the hotel. Walking back to the car, we saw the bag laying on the parking lot floor with splatters of dog puke all around. Somebody broke into the car, stole the bag & reached into it to see what was there. All he got was a handful of puke.

Instant Karma in a Bag:D:thumbup:

Thanks guys, I really needed to vent. I try not to get too attached to things, but I have to be honest with myself and admit that I grew to really like this knife. It was one of my first khukuris as I got it the month before I graduated from college.

I suppose I could always get another one to press into car duty, but I already have plenty of khukuris to choose from. And it just wouldn't be the same anyways. Unlike Spydercos in which one specimen is indistinguishable from the next, each khukuri is unique. A replacement wouldn't have the balance this one had, nor would it have its perfectly shaped and sized handle. And it wouldn't be made by the Old Man.

I guess I still have to work on my attachment issues.

Dude, if I had a BGRS, I'd send it to you:( That's a real bummer.

Thanks for the thought, but I'll be fine. I still have a full complement of khukuris with my Shop 1 BAS, 18" GS, 20" Kobra, 20" Sirupati, 21" Chitlangi, M43, 17" FF, and Gangaola.

I think despite the loss of a precious knife the feeling of personal space being invaded is equally unsettling...

Sorry about your loss, and wish all who don't work for their gain get what they deserve.
