In a recent thread I lamented about a recently purchased kumar YCS karda that while cool, pretty and nifty neeto keen did not seem to have a good use.

SO with some reluctance I ordered a Kumar Seax.

MUCH more useful design. First off it is "stabby" as hell so that alone makes it a good fighter.

But here is the kicker..... Its a good cutter/slicer to. That big long edge is a good vegi-chopper. The blade itself with its almost flat ground zero edge profile is actually good for something. It holds it own in the kitchen.

I am not ready to give up my Wustoff classics in the kitchen yet but for an all around tool with a lot of useful qualities this Seax is note worthy.
I can really see some tribal/warrior kinda guy going through life with one of these as a main stay tool.

The sheath is next to useless. Its ok as a place to store the knife or to ship the knife in but that is about it. Blade slips in and out even when the snap is closed. Not good for a horizontal carry knife.

Just a note it arrived with a lightly damaged tip. This was not noted or disclosed in the DOTD advertiment from which I purchased it. My assumption is the damage was missed since the shipping box and sheath were not compromised in anyway.

Glad I got it. The price was fair and carried with it like all HI knives the added value of making a positive impact on the lives of good working men.

I do not regret my purchase.

Heh. Is this a 14" seax? If so, you have to love a place where a 14" knife can be described without sarcasm as "small". :)

I gave Oleg a 14" BDC. I told Byron the BDC in that length was about the smallest kukuri that felt right, like it could hit with some authority.

Byron said, "Oleg'll probably think it's huge." :D
