I love the way this knife handles. Very nice control of the handle.

Great pics as usual! No crenelations on the Hiking Buddy? Looks like another great knife from the Forge.

Thanks man, and yeah, it has the crenelations as well. They just didn't show up well in the first pics. I edited a shot of those into the original post.

I also edited in a pic of the sheath. I think this is a heck of a deal for $195!

Brian gets all the cool new toys first :)

Awesome pics. I might have to start getting a set of the production models just to have some stainless fiddys around here.

ThanksBrian!! As usual, your fantastic photos tell a story that requires no words fill in the gaps. I learn all I need to know from looking at your crystal clear pictures. Great stuff Amigo!

You should try at least one, and maybe the Hiking Buddy would be a good one, being neither too big, nor too small. They don't have all the same touches as the hand made of course, but they have some. Also, the crenelations in the handles are a nicely done touch. If they don't mid-tech the F-2, and personally I hope they do, I can see this little guy being an awesome small game, fish, and fowl knife.

Thanks Phil! I try to put as much of the story as I can into the photos rather than words because I am personally a very visual person.

Well, it was a heck of weekend. I've managed to tear an abdominal muscle, a perhaps fracture a rib, so it will be a few days before I post any more photos. So, I thought I would edit a couple of shots of whittling into the original post. The handle on the mid tech is a little fuller than on the last hand made HB I bought, and I really like the controllability of it.

Awesome pics Brian. You've sold another knife for Andy! ;) Are you left handed, or have you just gotten really good at shooting pics weak handed?

I've always wondered about that myself! :) though I guess a tripod with a remote shutter release would work as well.

Thanks man, I was really excited to hear this one was coming out. I love S35VN here in my environment and in the coastal areas I like to visit. That's actually a little complicated lol. I was born left handed, but my mother didn't like that, soi she would "train" me to use my right hand. My father and brother, who also taught me a lot of things, couldn't care less which hand I used...so I am somewhat confusing and somewhat ambidextrous. To this day I shoot pool left handed. I shot rifles left handed until I was handed an M-16, and the brass flying across my field of vision sucked and I switched to right handed during basic. I am better with a knife right handed, and the camera is designed to be operated right handed, but I manage to take pics left handed a lot while working the knife with my right hand. That can be challenging at times, but not too bad most of the time....I have had a lot of practice at it :)

Some shots where I need both hands, will be done with a tripod and a remote, but most time it is a knife in one hand and a camera in the other...

that makes sense, yeah the focus and setup in general would be a pain to use tripod all the time. great photos as always!

Great shots as always Mist!!! Looks like a nice knife! Thanks for sharing!

The focus really isn't an issue, with the remote it re-focuses at the touch of a button each time, but setting up the tripod can be a hassle, as well as just packing it into the woods...

Thanks man. I'm really digging having a Hiking Buddy in S35VN :)

Mistwalker I fell in love with the Ultrapod long ago. Might want to check it out. To me the velcro strap makes it awesome to strap onto a branch or pole or handlebars and the ball head is pretty nice. Not sure what size rig you have going, but I've used it with my D90 a few times and it works well enough. (Can get a little tippy in tripod mode with all that weight up high.) Best part is that it's light enough that I actually bring it and use it.

I have an old Gorilla pod I have used for the last several years. It still works with the DSLRs but is getting weak maybe,,,it won't stay upright with the D90 or D7000 with the 18-300 lens I like to use a lot. I need to look into getting one of the new Ultrpods. That may fix several issues for me, thanks!
