a buddy & i were cleaning carpet at a nursing home one eve in ft.worth,tx. we had paused to clean hair from return ducts when i heard "that's a good knife "i looked up & saw an eldery gentleman standing near. i said" would you like to look at it". i handed him the puma 941 stag locking folder, he was supporting himself on 2 canes,& he looked it over carefully. his eyes were clear & other than physical disability was looking real healthy.as we conversed i asked him if he ever got bored in this place. he said sure & every now & then i slip out, get a bottle of whiskey.generally i drift thru a park & when i'm ready to go back' i go sat on a bus bench & "let them find me & bring me back"his problem was bad hip joints & this was 1976, i do'nt know if replacement hips had been invented at that time. as we went back to work i wondered what kind of family would isolate a father or grandfather in this cruel way.

Interesting story. We often forget that our elderly were once young, in a completely different time period. A lot of 'em are vets, too, with great stories to tell, but they get pushed to the side more often than not...sad.

Hopefully there was a good cutlery shop nearby to keep him busy.

Interesting anecdote, Dennis. Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
