Guys,

A good friend of mine bought the White Hunter about 20 years ago. The stag is perfect, never been used, still has the Rockwell sticker on it, original box and never in the sheath. Tonight he comes over and asks me if I want to buy it. I ask how much and he tells me $100.00. Ran inside and gave him a fresh c note and now part of my collection.

I did have to call him and let him know that the knife is worth more and made him aware that he could rethink it. He said no and he always knew how much I liked it.

Just had to tell this one,

Joe

My wife saw a friend of mine who had a table at a gunshow over a year back. He had brought his 25+ yr old Puma W-H for me, as I had seen it a few weeks earlier at a trunk sale we had at our club's range. I just didn't have the $125 he wanted for it - in nice shape with a perfect sheath, but no box. She went to blow her nose - and get us a soda as I continued looking. When she returned, she was limping - and said she didn't have money, anyway, thus no soda. She was visibly limping, so I suggested we leave, assuming her back was bothering her.

She was walking funny for a reason - that Puma W-H was in her pants, fortunately sheathed. She laid it in my lap the next day, after paying my friend - less than what he quoted me! Below you'll see it along side an Original Bowie, purchased in the last few years - as the remainder of my stag knives have been. The two yellowed stag handles are on BHear MGC knives, the remainder being Puma's.

Your wife stole you a White Hunter ! That is awesome!
Just joking but it was a great gift and I bet a nice surprise.

I love Pumas and have always wanted a White Hunter. I have heard that they are not as good now as they used to be. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

One of those "Knives that got away" of mine was a white hunter clone made by a different company for the west german air force. It had a plain wood handle but the blade was a dead ringer.

That is one hell of a wife! She is a keeper.

Love the collection. I'm feeling a little buyers remorse. I did tell him it was too kind. I'll have to pick my buddy up something to feel even.

Thanks guys,

Joe
