Okay guys, some of you know me personally and some of you know me by this forum, local knifeshows in the Northwest... or through business dealings...

Some of you know I might have a slightly warped sense of humor...

I don't persoanlly know Jerry Fisk, and I'm tickled to death I even got a Christmas card out of the blue form him... But I'd like to think I keep up on the issues in the knife industry... especially with regards to some of the more famous personalities and their art...

But did y'all know that apparently, Jerry's been busy of late... :D

Yes, you, too, can own a limited edition, genuine "hand forged 420 carbon steel" bowie signed as "Fisk MS"... and only 1,836 have been made!!!! With a piece of a tree from the actual Alamo that's still living, no less!!

Okay... I do have to ask... Does anybody know anything about this????

'Cause I'm all over it if this is legit!!! ;)

I dunno. :( There's nothing in the ad that mentions any involvement by Fisk, though the knife itself is clearly marked "Fisk MS". Why not drop Jerry a line and ask him?

Roger

PS - I dunno where they get that crap about "Cutlery cannot be shipped to ...Canada"

Roger,

I figured you'd chime in! :D

I think it's the fact that the demo in the ad is signed as Fisk that really got me, but it was the handforged 420 that had me rolling, and that there were over a thousand of them made - All's I could picture is Jerry hammerin on 420 for the last umpteen months to get the order in... and still do everything else like run the Blade Show Competitions!!!! ROTF!!!! :D

As to emailing Jerry, I figure he may have had something to do with the original for Browning, but this ad is just kind'a the sensationalist non-informative ad drivel one will get from some vendors in order to drum up business.... Nothing quite like the Camillus OVB series...

So I guess I'm just trying to share a hoot with the rest of y'all... ;)

Posted while I was writing... I saw those some time ago, which is where I saw the first reference to this series...

As far as I know,it's one in a series of knives.I don't know if Fisk makes all of them, but I"ve seen two more in the series,One is a D Guard

Evening all, As far as I know and I may be not quite on the mark. They were a series of five knives, each made by well known makers, Jerry and Jim Crowell for example. Jim's piece is reminiscent of a WWII kabar. The originals were made by the makers and then Browning had copies made. Therefore I would assume that the knife in the picture is the original knife forged by Jerry and the knives for sale are the limited editions made for Browning by a manufacturer. Jerry could probably fill in more.
Have a good one

"Too Tall"

Did you JUST get your JS? Because there is no mention of your name on the "BR" report about Blade on the ABS website. If you just did get your JS, maybe call up BR and have him add your name to the list?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Joe, Two Tall is right on the target. However I was not aware that those blades were out yet. I thought they were bogged down.
I just did the two protos and they did the rest. 1836 is more pieces than I will make in my life time.

Jerry,

I was actually kinda trying to derive a little humor from this one... I actually debated with myself about calling you about this... Fortunately for you, I decided to sleep on it first and see what I thought in the morn... :D

I actually was aware of the initial series representing the period pieces such as yours and I believe Crowell's and someone else's...

What I find hilarious, and potentially illegal, is in how the repro is being marketed (as far as truth-in-advertising: "handforged 420" and your mark on the ricasso???).

And the really funnyy aspect was the visual of you pounding on so much useless steel in between trying to run everything you do run, and how that was your excuse for such a long wait time for a knife!!! LOL!!!! :p

I just went and looked at a recent catalog from the same company and found another ad relating to a limited run of "handforged" stainless steel (IIRC) again for either Browning or another company...

Thanks for the clarity and I hope this is actually a profitable endeavor for ya!

Happy Hammerin'!

I think I'd find out who did the "hand forging" before I put money down especially when it's 420. Kinda sounds like the you're pay $750 worth of advertising on a $100 knife. No disprespect meant here, without details it sounds like Franklin Mint knives.

Must be a lot of dead live oak limbs around the alamo... Instead of knife scales this company is making $5000 chairs out of them. :D (http://www.historicwood.org/pre/U541244/payment.htm#)

I'm a little curious as to where they came up with the Travis quote engraved on the blade. As far as I know "Give me help, oh my country" was not in the text of the original Travis letter from the Alamo. Wonder why they would use that line when they could have used much more noble Travis quotes such as "I shall never Surrender or retreat" or "Victory Or Death".... Not that it really matters-I'll not likely plunkin' down $895 bucks for a Franklin Mint style reproduction Bowie.

Congratulations, Brion, for attaining your JS stamp........BRAVO!!!

Great looking knives you make, Sir. :)

I thought this had something to do with the Liberty Tree knife at first.. Does anyone remember that? ... the tree was the last of the original 13, or something about the Declaration of Independence.. I don't remember. (think it was Birch) Anyway, somebody made knives out of it, and the rest went to make guitars. Nice marketing.

Thank you all and yes I did make JS at the blade show, I figure BR made a slip and he will get it taken care of. I can see Jerry forging 1836 blades, he would be worn down to nothing. Again thanks for the compliments and Thank you Steve for noticing.
Have a good one
