A question about Damascus

I just bought my first damascus knife and I was wanting to know if there is anything I should worry as far as care for the blade. Having never owned damascus I want to know if there are things I should not do with it and if there is any special maintenance?

Any advice would be appreciated.

the steels used for the damascus will determine how much care is needed, but a thin coat of oil will serve pretty much any blade. I personally use camelia oil cuz I have a bottle of it, but even common veggie oil works fine. you can also use some fancier stuff like Tuf-Glide, but I personally like my blades to be taste/smell free and food safe.

I apply a light coat of mineral oil. get a bottle of it from your local pharmacy, about $8.

You care for the component steels the same way you would if it was a single steel blade. What knife did you get?

I'm pretty sure those have stainless damascus, so just treat it the same as any stainless.
