I was wondering how many of you have taken a store bought folder apart to try and replicate it. It seems like it would be a good way to learn how they work. I have one that I bought 80's that I was looking at tonight and I was thinking to myself that I aught to take 'er apart. Just to be plain spoken, I am not trying to duplicate in order to try and make one to sale. I just wanna have some fun! :D

Knifekits.com has some nice kits that would save you taking one apart, but that might spoil most of the fun, er, learning experience.
A good book to have handy is "The Complete Book of Pocket Knife Repair" by Ben Kelly, Jr.:) Good luck with your project!
Regards,
Greg

I haven't tried to replicate one, but I just finished pulling apart a Kabar/Dozier Thorn. When it arrived it had some blade play, so I took it apart and bent the liner lock enough to lock it up tight. Then I put it back together, which is definintely something to be done on more sleep than I've gotten! Now if I can just get the blade centered...
