A question about Lauri PT blade

Is the discoloration that you can see in the picture normal on Lauri PT blades or is it an indicator of overheating by grinding?

These blades are what the maker calls Progression Tempered (PT).

The blade features different levels of hardness, the edge being harder then the spine.

I'm sure what you are seeing is a zone where the HT changes to the softest part of the knife, the tang.
