a question about scorpius' handle

I just checked with the local knife shop, they don't have scorpius there, so I can't play with one in my hand. Someone mentioned that scorpius' handle is a lot similar with native's handle. Unfortunately, my hand doesn't fit native's handle so well (I got small hands). So, is scorpius' handle exactly the same shape as native's, thus it shouldn't fit my hand too?

The lower edge of the Scorpius handle is virtually identical to that of the Native. The backstrap, on the other hand, is totally different, the Scorpius being shorter (top to bottom) ahead of the lock and taller at the rear than the Native. Hard to judge for someone else, but the narrow front end might feel better in a smaller hand. I've got both knives, wear a medium glove, like the way both of them feel but would say they do feel different from one another. Have pictures of both on the "Compare" page here that may be of some help to you.

Hmmm, I didn't see any resemblance to the Native. But maybe I'm thinking of another one :)
Here's a link to a pictorial review in the Knife Reviews Forum showing the Scorpius.

Very nice page Deacon!

It's a good review, the pic has said everything.

It seems like you guys are also putting their middle finger in the second groove of the handle, but why nobody complains the groove being too wide for just one finger? I can have a very firm grip on a dodo or salsa, but with the native, the middle finger stays too far away from other fingers to make it a firm grip.

Intersting pics Tom, am seriously considering the Dodo after seeing them. Perhaps this one will illustrate the similarities and differences of the Native and Scorpius better.

Now I see what you mean, Deacon.
The similarities are too subtle for me to have picked it out without your fine comparison shot.
I was focused on the tail end, which is the exact opposite of what you meant to point out.
One of the many reasons
I LOVE PICS...

Thanks for the pic and I now have your site bookmarked as a Spyderco pictorial extravaganza :)

You are One heck of a Spydernut!

lreed, I have never noticed anything "wrong" or uncomfortable with the grip or finger placement. I did a review on the Native combo edge, over a year ago, where I used it to install hi hat lighting and electrical boxes. It was my first experience with the Native and when I fell in love with the Native S30v. I have never put a knife thru the same type of working conditions since.
Native user review is here.
