I have a habit of 'worrying' my pocket knives like Queeg Balls. My theory is that the natural oils in my skin will help to prevent the Stag from drying out and cracking. Is there any validity to such a thought? I have heard of a regular coating of mineral oil, but I am hesitant to use such a method as it is not animal sourced. Lanolin perhaps? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Nah, don't even worry about it. Here's a picture taken just a few minutes ago of the peanut that I've been carrying steady for three years now. It's been a worry stone for most of that time, as I love the feel of the jigged bone. The hand oils have not affected it a bit. Maybe just a slight darkening of the light parts of the bone near the bolsters. And maybe a slight smoothing of the jigging.

Now about those strawberries, I can prove with geometric logic...

Some people will use a wax on stag and bone handles. Renaissance Wax and Walker Wax are popular. I use Renaissance Wax on my knives for appearance and protection. I may try some Walker Wax though it will probably be 10 years before I run out of my one can of Ren Wax.
