As regards SK-5 steel, it's one of my SOG favorites, I really like the edge it takes. Here's a quote from a very recognized SOG kinda guy: "SOG SK-5: I've been told that the SK-5 we use (most likely a Japanese made steel) is very close to 0-1."
Ron Andersen
Here's a comment from the Talmadge website, "O-1 is a steel very popular with forgers, as it has the reputation for being 'forgiving.' It is an excellent steel that takes and holds an edge superbly, and is very tough. It rusts easily, however. Randall Knives uses O-1, so does Mad Dog."
I'm privileged to have a Randall with O-1 steel and I'm always Very Impressed with the incredible razor edge it takes. All that to say: get a SOG with SK-5 steel !!!
Cheers,
Carl
