I am looking at this model on my preferred vendors site and I am puzzled. Why is the knife totally blacked out and in a black sheath, then the sheath has bright chrome rivets and fasteners ? Why the contradiction of design and intent. Because, let's face it, this one wasn't primarily created to slice the xmas turkey.

Are they using a photo they took of the actual knife and sheath? Or are they using Spyderco's stock illustration? If the later, it may not be an accurate representation of the production version of the sheath. I don't have the new black bladed one, but can tell you that the sheath for the original uncoated FB04 Street Bowie had all black hardware.

I noticed the difference on youtube videos with old\new side by side comparisons. And I am impressed with this sub forum. No harsh defensive responses. How refreshing.

As you said, considering the intent of a black bladed knife, that hardware definitely looks out of place. Can't think of any logical reason why they did that. I'm sure the hardware can be blackened, or covered with black tape, but why should the user have to do that.
