a question about unique graphics

This may be a stupid question, but my Sebenza is plain. I have not handled a unique graphic one.

I see on the CRK web site that some Sebenza unique graphic designs are done on scales that look like they are screwed down to the titanium, while others are done on what looks like directly onto the titanium.

Do I hve this right?

If so, do they do deeper cuts into the titanium to form some patterns, like say the one on the Umnumzaan handles?

Is the color on the titanium only paint or is it oxidized metal?

PS: any higher-res photos would help.

Thanks. :)

from pictures i have seen, the scales idea i had is probably wrong.

are the 'scales' as I put it actually polished frame titanium and not scales at all?

the patterns are cut directly in to the scales, and the colors are anodized.

the depth varies, some have deeper cuts than others.

I Highly Recommend the CRK DVD, there are 2 DVD's, one shows the One Piece Knives, the other shows sebenzas, mnandi, etc. The designs in the unique graphics are engraved by Lisa. To get the colors, they run electric current through the titanium to change the color, then they sand the scale flat and the colors in the machining remains. The longer they leave it in, or the more voltage applied determines the color. Its a cool process and it is shown in the DVD.

thanks gentlemen. its a bit difficult to see in pictures on the web.

i like the graphics knives,a dn i am looking at possible options and alternatives to a micarta inlay i am planning on for later this year..
