Has Buck discontinued all of their multitools? It seemed like they had some innovative desings and I was sorry to see that the multitools were no longer listed on their website.

Anyone know the story on this?

I think that they have been discontinued for a few year. A matter of entering a crowded field too late.

I have seen some clean examples for sale on the bay though.

I've got one NIB somewhere collecting dust. Turned me off & never used it when I saw it was made in Mexico . :barf: :barf: :barf: Been using a Leatherman ever since.

For a while, Buck was having some knives assembled in Mexico. The Buck Tool was a good idea, but the handles collapsed too easily to be truely useful. I switched from mine to a Gerber 400 and last year to an 'old style' Wave.

Mine is made in the USA.

As I thought mine would be since I knew they we're made in the USA. It was a catalog order & was pretty disappointed when it arrived to see Mexico on the box. :( Should of sent it back but never did. Figured someday I'd just give it to someone as a gift.

Mick, read the box closely. It should say assembled in Mexico. There are also USA flags on the box indicating " USA parts". What they did was take parts to Mexico (about a 30 min drive) and picked up assembled goods. No biggy. The people there probably knew at least some of the Buck employees, as many of them made the commute daily. Some for many years.

I know what you're saying, but I was still turned off by it. Like I said, went to the Leatherman Wave instead & never looked back. Gonna go for the titanium handled version at some point. Not cheap, but very nice & very well made. Nice to have choices. :)

Mick, you're right. I prefere the Wave also, and I've had real good luck with the Gerber 400. It is actually all I need. The Wave was a splurge.
My brag for the week... I installed 2 phne lines, and a satelliite with a 1/2" wrench, a flashlight , a Vic SAK, and my Buck tool.It did the job, just wasnt very comfortable.
