A question for bowie fans

Hi guys
What I'm interested in is, which blade size of a bowie do you prefer and why. The range may be between 6 to 18 inches. I like a blade around 9 inches long, because it's not to huge to handle the knife comfortably and imho the best compromise for effective stabbing, chopping, slicing. For me, a knife with a bowie shaped blade less than 8 inches isn't really a bowie knife, and furthermore I'm not sure for which purposes a blade longer than 10 inches would be good for but, of course I know that many people use bowies with 6 and 7 " blades as well with a length more than 10 ".
I'd be glad to get some impressions.

My opinion... I like the 7-8" bowie style blades. Large enough to be a serious tool/weapon and short enough to be carried. I've had larger bowies but didn't see the added value in the extra length and weight. There is just so much hype surrounding this style of knife.

I'm on a wait list for a custom 9 inch bowie. It will be my first custom and honestly after digging through the custom section the pictures I found of 9 inch bowies in the hand just looked like what I wanted so I went with it.

this is how i'd want my bowie. the slightly persian handle that's thin in the middle and swells front and back. makes me think of a really fast deployment, which is what bowie wanted in the first place: to counter those clumsy unreliable flintlocks in a fight. same specs described for his knife: 9 inches long, 1 1/2 inch wide, straight, not crooked. maybe i'd want a wider and tougher tip than the one pictured.

I get your point, but IMO there are good arguments for both shorter and longer Bowie knives.

Less will do the job in many cases, but a fairly large Bowie knife has both practical applications and can in fact be a most useful tool. In some cases devastating.

In my experience, it can in fact save your bacon....in more ways than one.

Here my Lon Humphrey Pig Sticker in action on an outing - I assure you, its most efficient. The two hogs can attest to that.

Cuts like a razor blade with hardly any effort.

Hi BladeScout
Your knife looks great, similar to a fighting bowie.
But wouldn't do a 7 " blade the job as well? Or do you prefer it because of the longer reach?
The blade of your bowie I suppose is around 12 ".
