My orange XM-24 Bowie arrived recently and it's all sorts of awesome. This is going to be my main carry going forward. One reason I'm a fan is because of the highly-customizable nature of the pattern, and of Hinderer Knives as a whole. I'm really digging how you can see my blade from space due to the ignorantly bright shade of orange G10, but I'm considering grabbing a micarta scale if I decide to switch things up a few months down the road.

I'm wondering if you fine folks can shed some light on the quality of Rick's micarta. Is it good stuff? Are you a fan? Should I hold off for when Ti scales are available instead?

Any insight is appreciated. Cheers!

EDIT: Spelling.

While I don't have a whole lot of practical use experience, I have both a Hinderer and RC Bladeworks micarta scale for my Eklipse. They're both excellent quality but I'd give the nod to RC Bladeworks as it is a little thicker and feels a bit more substantial. Really, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Just my inflation adjusted 0.02.

RC Bladeworks. Interesting! I haven't heard of them. I'll check it out!

Hinderers micarta is excellent. I prefer it over Ti as it gives good grip and is lighter.
Excellent! The scales on the Hinderer site look amazing and I'm happy to hear they're as high quality as they appear.

You can easily dye the orange to black or other dark colors.
Oh, I wasn't wanting to do a scale swap just because of the colour. I really like micarta and I might get to the point where I want something a bit softer than the G10 my knife came with.

Never tried Micarta, my favorite Hinderer scale is textured CF.

But I wanted to comment on Ti scales: full Ti XMs are pretty (and I have a few … consider them dress knives) … but for me not practical for real use, because putting the knife on a rough surface will immediately scratch it.
