A question for Horsewright about contact cement

Dave,
When you are using the green label contact cement, how long do you let it set before putting pieces together.?My experiments indicate about 5 minutes or until the white color turns clear is close but the results have not been totally consistent. I use a relatively thin layer since it does not seem to take a lot and too much shows badly in the finished edges.

Yeah as a rule of thumb I go onto it gets clear. if its wheite still it doesn't seem to set up too well for me either. I have much better results with one thin coat rather than two coats.

Thanks Dave. That confirms what I am seeing. It is certainly nice to get away from the powerful chemicals in Barge, although I still use a bit for some applications (my wife's steampunk foam masks).
