A question for Joe or someone at Buck

At what point does Buck make the switch from one year's date stamp to the next year's stamp? For instance, are you now or will you sometime this month begin using the 2012 stamp on knives to be shipped out after the first of the year or will you make the change on Jan. 2nd of next year?

My money is on after the first of the year, and closer to the Shot Show

I can think of all kinds of scenarios so that's why I asked the question. I sent Joe an e-mail with a link to this thread, so perhaps he will respond. Or could be it's a state secret.

Sorry to be so late to this party but i believe the new stamps can be ordered as soon as November and/or into December. The shop has to consider the lead times given us by our vendor that does the stamps.
Its not really that cut and dried, the end of one year mixes with the beginning of the next when it comes to when a knife was actually made.

Some 2012 stamps may even be ordered in 2012....we call those OOPS'S ;-)

Thanks Joe. Now we have even more grey areas when dating, even the ones with date stamps and not just the dotted ones! ;)

What he's refering to happened in 2008. Thanks, Joe. DM

I believe that you are right. When he referred to 2012 stamps being ordered in 2012 I think he was joking about the 2008 incident. I have a few 111's and 110's made in 2008 that were made and shipped before the got the stamp.

This is the way things have been for many, many years.

And we all know it.

:)
