I have a Tidioute jig bone Beagle that i am very happy with , my question which may sound daft , but if you have arthritiky fingers you will understand, on the Tidioute version the nail mark sits a half inch from the tip of the blade, but it looks as if on the Northfield version the long pull nail mark starts further back , does it make it harder to open ?
Thanks in advance OMR..

All things being equal, yes, the closer to the pivot your nail is, the more force would be required to open the blade.

Well, I don't know! I have a Northfield on the way, should be here on Wednesday. I plan on sending it off to be made into a single blade, ebony scales, and maybe an easy open notch put in. Super easy open then!

Speaking from experience (not with the Beagle), yes. The nail nick closer to the tip is generally easier to open. I have bad arthritis and some peripheral neuropathy, so there are some blade designs that I have a lot of difficulty with. The long pulls are fine as long as the pull rating of the blade isn't too great. I'm usually good with a pull of up to about a seven, then I start having troubles.

The pull on my Beagle stag is fairly light, same as on the bone. With mine, it is not much harder to open.

Regards OMR.
