Hi Sal - Love all your knives.
Anyway, I sent a question through your website a few days ago, and haven't heard back. Maybe you can advise.
Here is the message request:

Good Morning
I have just bought a SPYDERCO PUUKKO
FB28WD from one of your online retailers. I paid a huge premium, but I love your knives, and it was worth it to me. My question is, it is one your numbered collector edition. I however intend to actually use it. Are the collector versions okay to actually use and are fully heat treated and fully functional knives, or are they only intended for display?
Thank you for your time.
Dave

I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,

FWIW, the number on the blade of your Pukko is probably a Spyderco Collector's Club number and, if so, it would NOT make the knife any more valuable. It certainly does NOT affect its funcitonality. Use it or not as you see fit.

That said, the Ironwood version of the Pukko is rare and hard to find. I would consider it a "collector's item" whether it has a # on it or not. Personally, I don't like #'s on my knives and I avoid collecting such knives.

I'm a collector and own both the Ironwood and G10 versions of the Pukko. I would never use either of them but if I had to choose, I'd use the G10 version which is more common and worth less.

On the other hand, there are many much cheaper pukkos made by others which are totally functional and would be a better alternatives to use than either the Spyderco Ironwood or G10 pukkos.

IMO, collecting and using don't mix. A lot of guys here say they never buy a knife unless they intend to use it. Others like me, own knives that they use but they never use the knives that they "collect."

So, you have to decide which camp you're in and where the Spyderco pukko you bought stands in that respect.

Just my 2 cents.
