G'day Fellas, I have finally got around to ordering a AR folder and can't wait to get in my hands. I was wondering if any of you know how Strider come up with their model names? eg What does AR, GB etc stand for if anything?

Cheers

Peter

I read in the 2001 Handgunners Annual that the names come from the initails of the person it was originally designed for, or they are sometimes an inside joke with Strider. Just what I read, may be completly wrong. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I read that too and I have seen it written here on the boards...still, I like to refer affectionately to my BD as "Badass Diver" :)

I think the initials of some significant events or places have contributed to the names as well.......

hey Peter, I would love to catch up with you and that AR when it hits downtown Melbourne mate!

I am in Sale, 2.5hrs SE.

Is it a hollow or flat ground version you have incoming?

Hi there,
The Designations, as you may have surmised, are either tributes to individuals of influence in the Community or to Special Events. The information is close hold and there is NOT a very long list of people who are aware of what ALL of the abbreviations stand for. Take comfort in that they were all reviewed carefully...well there was that ONE! Hope this helps...sorry for the delay.
All the Best,
Joe

I'm happy to help you out here, Peter. "AR" stands for "All RIGHT!". "GB" stands for "Good Blade". A little-known fact about the GB is that it was originally going to be designated the "GBbnagatar" ("Good Blade, but not as good as the AR"). For marketing reasons, they decided to shorten the name. I hate to be immodest here, but I'm happy to announce that soon Strider will be coming out with a new model that honors me, the KMAYLPOS. As Joe told you, these designations are kept in strictest confidence, but I can tell you that the "K" stands for "kiss".

True story. Really.
