So, if I can ask, if the result of the new rules in the Current Events section is to for all practical purposes completely kill that sub forum will there be an adjustment of the rules? I've noted a rather precipitous drop in the number of new posts there. Now it's entirely possible that this is merely an artifact of the holiday etc. but if it's not will there be an adjustment?

What is it about the new rules that you think might kill the forum, and what would you propose as an adjustment?

Will the forum be killed to death for lack of link-and-run trolling? Holy batshit, Batman! Tune in next week, same bat-time, same bat-channel....

Previously that forum was a handy place where one could post topics without having to put in all the background stuff necessary to avoid a gollnicking in political, even stuff that was political in nature. Since that is no longer the case and the only thing apparently that can be posted are headlines of a mostly apolitical nature I expect that we will see a precipitous drop of in the number of threads there. To date there have been 5 threads started there since the new rules took effect, two of which got bounced. As previously mentioned it's entirely likely that I'm wrong, but what if I'm not?

As a fix I'd propose ditching the new rules and going back to the way it was before, or in other words if it is not broke why bother "fixing" it?

Either way whatever, your playground, your rules, if the question and / or the suggestion isn't appreciated a simple "no" will work and I'll move right along.

I look forward to the number of posts increasing as people get more comfortable with the format, and realize there are nonpolitical topics worth a serious discussion. For the one-liners, link and run, and dogpiling, we've got Whine & Cheese, which isn't always only dirty jokes and cheap insults.

Not every story of the day is political, even in an election season. Some of them end up in other discussion forums, and I've been tempted to move them to Current Events. (You know how people like to post the most off-topic ideas in their favorite forum. :) )
