well, a couple really.

1.) about what thickness of Ti is used? - im sure it varies, but what is used the most?

2.) on some i see a groove milled into the base of the lock, is this because the Ti would be too thick to operate the lock easily without the groove? at what point (in thickness) is Ti too hard to unlock?

thanks

Most of the folks I've talked to use something around .100 ti for their frame locks, SkaerE.
You're right about the relief milled in the base of the lock tab. It's to make it easier to push the lock tab aside to close the knife.
As far as the thickness at which ti becomes too hard to unlock without a relief. This will depend alot on the dimensions of the knife and the lock tab. The bigger the knife and the longer the tab, the easier it will be to operate. On my larger liner locks I use .060 ti and they're easy to unlock.

The Sebenza uses .130" Titanium.............make sure you use 6/4

Chris leaves the web approx .050" thick..........thats a good gauge.

As for ease of opening and thickness of the web........a LOT depends on how long the lock is......A leverage issue.

I never make folder until now, but I bought the Peter Atwood Framelock video
of and I recommend it ... A lot of useful information and all the steps are well
explained! If you want to make framelock, It is a must !
(and on this video, Peter use 0.1 thick ttanium and make a groove on the
base of the lock)
