This has bothered me for a little while. Is "Schatt" pronounced SKAT or SHAT?
Kids got me one of the File & Wire Gunstocks for Christmas/Hannukah.
Cornelis Böhms;4227799 said:It's a German surname. "Schatten" means shadow in German, and is pronounched as "shjatten". So Schatt is "Shjatt", with the A as in the British way of saying "dance".
The correct pronunciation of the German Schatten has the "a" sound just like the "o" in the American pronunciation of the word shot.
I can see this has been an enlightening thread. Almost as much fun as asking how to pronounce Mannlicher-Schoenauer....
Seriously, thanks for the answers.

And of course HK ads (those from the late 1990's at least) had a pronunciation guide to help. Not quite as bad as the Heckler and Koch manglings I've heard at the gun shows!
