A question of smooth opening knives?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I find my Seb loses its smoothness of opening relatively quickly after cleaning and lubing( maybe a good week-10 days). It doesn't get rough, but just not that silky smooth opening, but rather a hint of resistance. On the other hand, I have a 8 or 9 year old stainless steel Rookie that rarely gets cleaned other than a quick rinse. And being that it's pinned construction, there isn't any taking it apart, but it remains very smooth.
My question is quite simple in that I'm wondering if it's better to just leave well enough alone when it comes to taking knives apart for cleaning and lubing? Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Do you take it apart to clean and lube it?

I ask because I think a lot of people that own Seb's take them apart waaaaaay too much. For the most part knives in general don't need to be taken apart much at all. Well, unless you are using your knife in the mud or around drywall/joint compound or something similar.

Even my screw construction Spydies like the Paramilitary I don't take apart to clean and they just get smoother and better with use. I do keep it oiled about once a month or so.

About 9 times out of 10 I just apply a drop of Tuf-Glide or Blue lube to each washer and only disassemble about once a year or so. Seems to work fairly OK for my 2 Sebs.

When I was carrying Sebs , I found that if I used Flitz to polish the washers , I wouldn't need to take it apart to clean it for a long while.
Some will over oil them which attracts dirt and quickly makes the action feel like crap.

Bike chain lobe works well and has little affinity for crud . For sure it sounds like your lube is attracting and retaining crud . BTW , WD 40 is one of the worst bar none .

What are you using for lube?

Sell it and get a Darrel Ralph with maxx-glide sealed bearing. Not only will it be smoother from the start, you won't have to take it apart.
