A question on the anatomy of the original Starmate

I just picked up the new Starmate last night and love it. It will make a great EDC, even for a lefty like me. I know the new version has a 4 way clip, where the old only offered tip down, right side. I also know that the liners and scales have changed.

I've tried several Google and board searches and was unable to come up with a definitive answer to the following: How was the original Starmate set up internally?

I have read that it was set up like the Military, but also that it has a single full nested liner (while the Mili has partial nested liners on both sides, with the side opposite the clip and lock being significantly smaller).

Was it more like the Rookie, but nested with a liner lock?

Not home right now but I believe it was a partial nested liner.

Single nested partial liner (lock side). The liner ends about where the medalian is inset on the front scale. At least, that's how it is on #674.

It does indeed have a partial nested liner. Starts at the pivot end and continues approximately three quarters of the way down.

I think there have been some other confusing posts about the original StarMate's liner. In one thread, someone commented that the original liner was made of titanium. I don't believe that this was the case (I could be wrong, though). I think it is stainless steel - it certainly doesn't look like titanium to me... Can anyone confirm?

A magnet will stick to mine. If it a titanium alloy, there is plenty of iron in the mix.

Hello,
I have 2 originals, and the liners are titanium.
Also the pivot screw is adjustable like the older militaries,so you can perfectly set the distance to the liner.

Are you sure you're talking about the same model? The starmate doesn't have liners just a single partial nested liner and it's not titanium.
