A question or 2 on preference and sharpening of d2 vs 1050, 1095...

I am trying to decide between a bk14 or bk24. I do quite a bit outdoors, both landscaping daily and hiking/camping, with not much fear of not being able to touch up an edge, but I dont want to have to do it daily...
I currently have an a.g. russel sting which is 1050 hrc 52-55, among others. Though that is often the one I bring for landscaping since I have no worries about the edge with me having a rather wide angle on it and the toughness of the steel.

My questions lie in what I should purchase, most likely being either a bk14 or bk24, but open to other options.

Having been working on the sting, should I feel pretty comfortable if I were to buy the d2 bk24?

With cutting various hard and soft woods, rooting around in dirt, cutting roots with stone imbedded in the soil around them, and general abuse would the 1095 bk14 hold up enough to offset the work needed near daily to keep it sharp?

I also would prefer a knife on the smaller side, since I will often be carrying it around customers who often have children. NJ isnt that friendly and accepting to people carrying knives.

I know that the d2 bk24 sounds like it should be my preferential knife, but I would like some more seasoned minds to mull this over.

Thanks in advance.

I am also open to other ideas, if anyone has any other suggested knives.

Personally I'd take the D2.

Near stainless, takes a good edge and holds it a long time.

If you touch it up it'll last a long-time

I sure like D2. Seems the other steels mentioned would require much more frequent sharpening with what you say you're going to do to them.

You might get a strop too and keep the D2 touched up regularly under such extremes. Do that and you won't have to worry about the sharpening negatives of D2. It's good stuff.
