About 3 years ago I read an article in T/K about new BUCKS that had the gold coating, Ti Nitride I think.
Well 1 knife did intrest me and I can't remember the model, it was a liner lock, which was supposed to only be sharpened on the 1 side.
I'd like to aquire 1 if possible, any leads as to which model, avaliblilty anyone can provide would be greatly apreciated. Thanks for looking, Ron

...Sharpened on one side?...Maybe a Buck/Strider? (I don't know if those ARE sharpened on one side or not, 'tho...).

I think all of the TiNi Bucks were chisel ground (or had a chisel edge, anyway) so you could get the coating right up at the cutting surface, which would not be possible if both sides were ground away.

You are talking about IonFusion. It is available on a number of knives, the linerlock that I can think of would be the Crosslock. It is also on the 110, and the Vanguard that I know of.

Dann it was the cross lock I think, Msch & fish are both right.
I found the article in my old mag pile today again, is this coating still avalible and if so do the carbides hold as good as they claim?

Just thought it would be cool to try something a little different for a change. thanks guys, Ron

IonFusion is still available, I know that if you have a 110 made in the custom shop you can get it. I dont know what runs currently have it though.

By carbides, what do you mean?

The TiNi is bonded to the steel. It is chisel ground so tha the cutting edge is comprised of the 420HC steel at 58RC, and the TiNi at around 80RC. Cutting will wear the steel before the coating. Heavy cutting will affect the coating because of the edge configuration.
