Mine looks nothing like the one in the 2005 catalog. The handle and clip are the same, but the blade is totally different. Mine has dual thumb studs instead of the hole (I like the studs much better), and the blade shape is more like the Vision series than pictured in the catalog. Also, on the blade all it says is "BG-42 Steel Rc60. Is mine last years model or what? Either way, I am loving the knife.

There are 2 autoclip models, the x-42 autoclip and the autoclip there are also mini versions of these. What you have is an x-42 autoclip or a mini x-42. The x-42 is WAY more cool in my opinion, not that the standard one isn't too.

Socintel knows his SOGs...... :)

Richard, as I said in another thread, your BG-42 knife is being phased out according to Chris at SOG. I may end up finding me a couple more to lay back since this will be all she wrote. :(

I got the TINI X-42 and it is a beauty. I also have a standard Mini Auto clip, I did however modify it a bit with a thumb stud placement within the slot using small stainless washers and a stud, works great.

I use it for real ugly cutting chores around the house and it clips to my camo pants and has never come off. I keep my clip really tight so I won't lose it.

from what I read, I have the X-42 Auto-Clip. This is one great knife. Might just make another trip out to my knife pusher and see if they have any more. These would make great gifts to be sure. Then again, might just keep them (as they say in Antique Road Show) un-used and in their original packaging. Thanks again.
