I've recently bought a Badger Attack Tac from a gentelman in UK. Now I want my friend who will be visiting UK next week to bring it to me.
I was wandering if it is ok (legal - safe) for my friend to bring me the knife. He will be flying and have the knife in the main lugage, all packed up.
I know in UK carring a concealed weapon is illegal and I don't want to get him into any trouble.
Thanks for all the answers.:)

I don't know if it is illegal to transport, but there's always the chance of it getting stolen. I say ship it.

If your friend brings a knife on a plane in his checked in luggage, he'll probably be okay carrying it from his house to the airport, especially if he has a valid ticket/ boarding pass. I don't think carrying a knife in luggage can be considered "concealed carry". The chances of your friend's luggage being searched by the police outside of the airport are pretty minute anyway, unless he is getting into some sort of trouble. The danger is in having the knife pilfered by dirty baggage handlers, which happens all the time. A TSA approved baggage lock wouldn't hurt.

Shipping the knife raises the possibility of the knife being held up in customs. Labeling the knife as "artwork" on the customs declaration form might help with that.

That said, the joy of owning a Busse far outweighs any potential risk involved in its transport. Go for it! And good luck!

Checked in with the main baggage is fine, but yes put a good lock on the bag. The chances are very small that it'd be stolen, but why risk it.

It is legal to have it in main luggage......once he gets to you....that's your territory. I would risk it though. Busse is worth a little trouble (legal or otherwise)

Legal. It is illegal to carry a knife in a public place, without good reason. In this case, the good reason is taking it to the airport. It's not concealed (which is irrelevent in UK law anyway), it's just safely packed for the journey. There is no law against having the knife in the checked luggage. Plenty of us Brits travel with our knives this way.

There's no more chance of it being stolen than if you posted it.

Enjoy your BATAC!

I haven't travelled overseas with any of my blades bigger than a large folder. However, I flew to Arizona over the summer and packed my BATAC plus Semper Paratus Sheath in my checked baggage and it wasn't a problem. I suggest wrapping it inside a bunch of clothes so it isn't easily seen should some jackass look through your bag. I don't think you'll have a problem. Good luck, man.

i haven't traveled overseas at all... but i did stay in a holiday inn express once

As regards US customs - My brother who travels to US often never had any issues with airport guads or customs and he brought me several blades (most of them Busses of course:D).
I hope there's no difference between US and UK in that matter. :)
