A Quick Copperlock Mod

I recently acquired a nice Case Copperlock in goldenrod jigged bone, and it has already lived an eventful life. In the course of a couple of round trips to PA, it received some excellent attention from Case which I posted about here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1088595-Great-Customer-Service-Experience-with-Case

But its adventures have continued. I like this knife and think it has a slim elegance to it. What looked out of place, though, to me at least, was the exaggerated hump just past the long pull towards the tip. I thought it was awkward, and broke the clean lines of the blade and the knife. So, I used my Worksharp, some diamond files, and Micro Mesh pads to take it down and smooth it off.

I know the Copperlock has been a winning design for Case, and I guess it's a little presumptuous for me to try and "improve" on it, but I really do like it better now.

Please forgive the hasty "before" and "after" photos, but at least they show the change.

Thanks for looking.

Andrew

I like your mod. As a matter of fact I "flatten out" the clips of all my Case knives that I carry regularly. I like the tips pointy, not upswept.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the kind words. Much appreciated.

Todd, I like what you did with each of those clips---the straight spines look good.

I have two copper locks, one of which has been my edc for more than a year. I think the clip is close to perfect at least in looks. However, that hump you removed, together with the swedge, make it a little pointy.

I have a copperlock just like yours and have been thinking about doing this for some time. One thing I do like about the hump though is that it makes the blade really pinchable for opening...

Fine work on your lil' beauty!

Thanks, gents. And even post-mod, there's still plenty to pinch.:D
