Well I missed the Hardwoodsman Meet do to an emergecy at home, and still had my stuff packed, so the kiddo and I set off on a quick overnighter not too far from home. (Same place we went last time!)

12x10 tarp set up using the ridgeline from Bushclass!

And the kids and I's hammocks set up bunkbed style. Worked very well this way.

Alittle one stick fire practice with the Turley! Making sure to get my shaving s in just like BushClass!

Made a yummy supper of sausage, onion, mushrooms.

Whipped up some biscuts to go with it, tried a couple methods of cooking

Didnt last long!

Tin foil oven attempt, worked very well

Then used the can from the mushrooms to try out Ray Mears "Australian Tripod" pot hanger method. The sticks are just in the can, no cordage or knots to be tied! And hole poked thru the can and snare wire tied to the hook and toggle. I worked great.

In all a great little trip, and much needed woods time!

Very cool, I love the bunk bed style hammocks. Man that sausage dish you made looks very tasty lol.
Thanks for taking us on the tour of you campout.

thanks for posting, great to spend time with the kids. My wife and I hauled our girls through the boonies and let them wade and stomp through some water holes. fun for all. nice tools

I did a couple of short trails with the kids this afternoon, at the local community park. Just nice being in the woods with the boys and seeing their curiosity about EVERYTHING. I love it.

What model is that Turley knife? I looked on his website and didn't see it. That knife is right up my alley.

You won't find it on his site, I had him modify a Dogwood, enlarging the blade, and added a pommel plate.

Just ask him, he'll make another.

never seen bunk bed style hammocks. For sure would not want to be on the bottom after a big sausage dinner!

awesome! nice set-up, I like that can pot-hanger...never seen it before (it went in my mental library). I have thought about getting some hammocks for camping and forgoing the tent...the older I get the less I like sleeping on the ground LOL

Very cool Skab. Just a question on the double hammock. I assume your son took the top bunk, but he is shorter and did he have more difficulty getting in? I imagine these are top loaders and not the bottom hole type. Can't wrap my head around how I could get this to work with the bottom entry types, albeit the bottom entry if there is only one of them could go on the bottom.

Neat pot holder, except now your buckets got a hole in it!!!
