Greetings. Now that I have tried the following Busse handles, I am curious to their favorability among those who have much more experience in these matters than I. This also may assist those newcomers in deciding which particular knife/handle to try. So - my favorites (so far), in descending order are:

1) Straight Handle (ASH1)

2) Ergo Handle (SHe)

3) Fusion Handle (HOGFSH)

Thanks for playing!

Interesting. I will have to ponder. Do you have a criteria for the activity. Example: Do you mean for chopping? Or is it a broader question as to what just feels better in you hand when you hold the knife. General cutting and blade manipulation?
For chopping I prefer the fusion handle. If I was in a situation that may call for using the knife in a defensive way I would go with the ergo. If I am just sitting hy a campfire whittling then the ASH 1 handle would win.

Thanks Garth,

Firstly, I am new to Bussekins and have only utilized the above handles (on only three knife types), for minor cutting chores around the house, like batoning firewood; shaving kindling, etc.. Will further my explorations when it gets warmer outside, and work slows down. This is my busy time of year!

General hand feel and blade manipulation just seems better w/ my Skinny ASH1 than the other two, especially when shifting from a "fencing" style grip to a "spike" grip. Also, my hand is not that wide and the ASH1, with the shorter grip length, fits me better. There is also less of a dig into the palm, that I experience with the other two handles. I certainly see why Andy, and others, love the ASH's. I already have two, the other being that unique red-bladed "Devil's Ash" I picked up from Skystorm.

I do however, really appreciate the look of the Fusion's and Ergo's, with the downward sloping handles. And the big HOGFSH would certainly be a more effective chopper than the other two. Quite a conundrum, since we cannot try all models out at the local Wallymart, then decide what suits us best. So, doing the research; taking in other's observations, then finding, and buying the models that we would like to try is the chosen path. And that's fine here, as I am at a point in my life where I can afford such indulgences. And I still enjoy all of my knife, firearm, etc. purchases. Even if some fit me better than others. No regrets, right?

Currently have a SARSquatch on the way from a BF member so will give that a try. Looking forward to it, and keep up the great work you guys. And stay warm out there in chilly Ohio!

Cheers, Steve

I do also like the straight grip on the Terror Monkey. Guess my hand is more suited to that style. Cheers.

My favorites in descending order:

SHSH2 smooth handle and A2 SHBA

E handle of the final years, they were smoothed on both the spine and grip area, the originals were a bit pointy on the edges.

Any of the hand shaped series that came out a few years ago, they were sweet, no ridges or points to catch the skin.

You can get handshaped slabs on almost any knife. You just have to send it into the shop. There is a cost, and it does take a little width off them but they are comfortable. If you want the width back have them install a set of liners.
To me, the best time to get handshaped slabs is when the knife will be a chopper.

The TAC handle shape is good too.

Thanks Demonic1. Just picked up my used/new to me SARSquatch this am. Nothing cut yet, but feels great in the grip. Straight handle feels more knife-like to me. Also like the Competition finish on this SQ. Have another stripped Busse, and think that the blade metal "wears its wear" better in this condition than do the painted blades. The swedge is also less obnoxious looking in real life. So...another successful used (off BF Exchange) Busse purchase!

Cheers.
