A quick sheath and a moment of clarity

First the sheath...

And the back

I'm gifting my 70's Buck 112 and figured it should have a sheath.
2/3 oz leather held together with hog rings.

I fight with snaps.
I don't like snaps.
I didn't have enough leather to seat the snap rivet properly, since the rivet was way to tall.

The moment of clarity...

I've been replacing hooks on my 2-3oz surf fishing lures.
Using my dremel with reinforced cutting wheels to cut off the old trebles.

The dremel worked a treat at trimming down the rivets to fit the 2/3 oz leather.
A little hit and miss on the length but the cut was clean and way better than fighting with a hacksaw or file.

I'm sure the others have figured this out and I'm late to the party, but I'm thrilled none the less.
:D

Not stitches...
Hog rings... C rings... used in auto upholstery and the assembly of small cages etc...
:)

Been there done that! :p

I grind down the too long shafts on my belt sander, it really makes a difference to shorten them down huh? :D

Hog Rings, I haven't heard that name in a while! In Lubbock I used them to make rabbit cages out of panels. They work very well. I still have my hog ring pliers around here somewhere. They do make a rather interesting addition to that sheath for sure, I like it.

Nice job Ebbtide. Seems very suitable for that Buck. I too use my grinder to shorten rivets, snaps, corby bolts etc. I had that same knife and its on the bottom of the Pacific. Was with a buddy and he was pulling up his crab traps. One was cuaght on something and he borrowed my Buck to cut it free and dropped it. Same vintage as I'd had it probably 4 or 5 years and this would of been 77 or 78.

Thanx!
Great little knife. Hope the new owner likes it as much as we did :)
