Off from work, weather too bad, so drinking coffee [too old for the good stuff], I thought I would tell a short story. I used to travel around the country working and purchased "story tapes" to pass the time while driving to and from the job sites. I subscribed to a exclusive "book" club and had volumes of expensive collection of story tapes of the classics.

My daughter's girlfriend has a younger sister who was born premature.
As a result, the oxygen caused her to go blind, her spinal cord never fully developed and she is paralyzed stuck in bed for the rest of her life.

My wife took one volume and let her read it [listen]. I came home and of course I noticed one was missing and went "high order".
After reflecting a week later while on the road, I realized what a jerk I am.

When I got back home, I boxed my entire collection, over 1k bucko's worth, and asked if she would please take them over to her house with my apologies.

I'm sure glad I didn't die before I did this . One less bad Karma to attoin for, [I hope].;)

You did a good thing. We often forget to stop and think before we react. Even if that one audiobook was missing for a less noble cause, it's not worth going ballistic over.
Your anger is a gift. Save it for things that require it. Too often we blow up at little things, and let real injustices go by, because we think we can do nothing about them.

I'm sure those story tapes will give her years of enjoyment. Make sure she passes on the ones she doesn't like to someone else in need.

Way to go, Sams. You earned karma points for sure. We're never too old for personal growth, are we?

Agreed.

BTW, make sure they're aware of American Printing House for the Blind (www.aph.org). They've got a lot of resources like textbooks and other things you'd never buy for yourself. They may also be able to help find where/how to get things like this for free or discounted.

I'm sure glad I didn't die before I did this .

One of the secrets of life -- no regrets.

Nice going, Sams. You've come a long way, baby!

Sams, I think Stripey might be on to something. You could ask her to pass them along to someone else that needs them, sort of "pay it forward" as your compensation for them.

and the apology to your wife? You know...the woman who thought of it in the first place, tolerated your rant, and didn't smother you that night?

BIG-TIME apology. Jewelry-grade apology.

Then thanks for her contribution in helping you grow?

(You married well.)

"BIG-TIME apology. Jewelry-grade apology."

Yes Kis, the extortion was already paid off, $800 lamp, $2100 dollar ring, and an original Chagall painting, price confidential.:D

It sure hurts my pocket book when I'm wrong. Had to sell a engraved Randall, and a Model 70 Winchester.

:(

HMMm...ideas, ideas;)

BTW, I think that was a very nice thing you did, sams, you deserve a medal. I'm talking about the books:rolleyes:
