Hello B.F.ers. I had a quick question about a Large Regular that has been wracking my mind. I recently picked up a Large Regular and it has a swedge, silver hardware, dual lugs, and a polished blade. Now I've been at this for quite a while and I've never seen a plain Regular with a polished blade before, especially with a swedge. I know they were available on the Annuals but never have I seen a polished blade on a plain Regular. The Swedge makes it look really nice and the all silver hardware helps as well. As a matter of fact its one of the nicest Regulars I have had the pleasure of owning. It has all the options listed on the side of the box and on the birthcard so its all legit. Its from 2008 if that helps at all. If anyone has any input I would really appreciate it. I actually called CRK and Angela told me that back then the original owner would have had to place a special order to get such a highly optioned knife but when I asked about the polished blade on the Regular she said that it sounded possible but wasn't sure about how long this option was offered and how many were done, basically her way of saying "I don't know". He would to have asked for the dual lug, silver hardware, swedge, and the polished blade. It was obviously a special order and I am wondering if they polished this blade at the buyers request since it was such a detailed order as a special favor or what? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I just can't seem to figure it out as I have owned well over 25-30 Large Regulars and watched them quite closely but never once have seen a plain Large Regular with a Polished Blade. Thank you for all of your input as it is greatly appreciated.

BTW- I know that the polished blade was an option for the 21s and have actually owned a few of those with a polished blade but this is the first time I have seen it on a Large Regular.

Nice knife, I always liked how the flats are stonewashed giving it a nice contrast. I don't think it was a super popular option on the plain knives, used on the decorated and annuals as stated. Great catch.

Its just one that was special ordered is all. Someone paid for the extra options. Most polished blades were on the annuals and the CGG/UG versions, but the option was available on a plain jane. I just got a large plain 21 and it has a polished blade, and the BD card confirms it was from the factory and not switched by someone, but the option was indeed available on the regular as well. Same as the swedge and double studs and silver hardware.

But to answer you title question, it is indeed a rare bird.....lol.

As always nyefmaker has the answers! I am in awe of your knowledge when it comes to all things CRK!!
Thanks nyefmaker! !

Congrats to your "new" knife.
I like the look of the polished blade it makes it more special (YMMV).
The swedge - now this gives the knife a different character.
Thanks for sharing.

I have a small regular with a polished blade. I got it from a dealer (OFK) in 2006, so I did not have to special order it. The small was available for a time through dealers this way, but they were never very common. I don't know about the large, I was not looking at the large at the time. I have a small 21 with a polished blade, also purchased from a dealer.

I ordered that knife (the one you own) and a sister knife exactly the same at the same time from CRK in 2008. I wanted to polished blade on both, swedge, and double silver lugs. It is a great knife. I love the look of the polished blade with the all ti scales.

Enjoy!

I have seen plain polished bladed sebenzas on different dealer sites over the years, its just not the norm for a plain sebenza and is a "special order " if you will from CRK, but did not have to be ONLY from CRK, but most were. One that has all silver hardware, polished blade, swedge, that had to come from CRK directly more than likely.

I'm not an expert on the Sebenza at all, but I wasn't even aware they made a polished knife with the new CPM steel used in most of their blades. It's definitely reflective, would you say it's a mirror finish?

Looks nice man!

The polished blades are just like the ones found on the annuals, CGG, UG sebenzas. Its not a mirror finish as to me a mirror finish is what you find on polished custom knives and several production knives where you can see yourself in it. The CRK polished blades show the grind lines that are perfectly straight, they are just highly polished. This area is not stonewashed like the spine and like the whole blade on a plain jane sebenza would be.

Thanks for all of your input guys. I was thinking and what would be crazy if this blade was a precursor to the 2009 Annual that was available polished, with dual gold thumb studs, and a swedge. But I'm pretty sure mine was just a special order. Thanks for the input and Happy Holidays to all.

Right on. The conversation of just this finish was being discussed by myself and a friend of mine as I just picked up a CGG that has a polished blade(one of the reasons I bought it). It just seems to add that little eye candy to the silver contrasts on the handle. I do like the fact the finish is more satin than high polished.
